Director Product Development
Department: Research & Development
Reporting to: Managing Director
Location: Hampton, London
Benefits: 25 days holiday and personal pension after the qualification period.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with requirement to be in the office 3-4 days per week
Main Duties
- Overall responsibility for development of new products and support of existing products.
- Ensuring the company’s brands have agreed and published development roadmaps.
- Ensuring that the departmental projects are completed on time and to budget.
- Ensuring project documentation and sign-offs are completed correctly.
- Ensuring that products developed comply with product legislation in the countries where they are sold.
- Overall responsibility for Goldring Production and Customer/Technical Support.
- Managing all direct reports, currently 10 people.
- Liaising and developing relationships with other internal departments, outside consultants, and manufacturing partners.
- Monthly project reporting to Senior Management Team.
- Providing weekly, monthly, and annual reports, along with the necessary information to support the company’s R&D Tax claim.
- Assisting the Managing Director as and when necessary.
Skills Required
- Excellent understanding of the analogue and digital technologies used within the audio industry.
- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task.
- Problem-solving and ability to think in a methodical manner and explain in non-technical language to colleagues technical issues relating to development projects.
- Ability to prepare and present project budgets for approval/sign off.
- Good presentation skills.

Qualifications
- At least 15 years experience in audio or consumer electronics.

- Ability to work in Southwest London and be in the Hampton office a minimum of 3-4 days per week.
- Ability to travel both within the UK and Europe as well as further afield.

Junior project engineer
At Armour Home, we design and manufacture specialist hi-fi, home theatre and entertainment solutions for both the consumer electronics and custom install sectors around the world. Our multi award-winning brands include Q Acoustics hi-fi and home theatre speakers; QED hi-fi cables and Goldring cartridges.
Our Research & Development team consists of product designers, electronic engineers and acoustic engineers who collaborate on the development of products for each of our brands. We work closely with UK and Far East manufacturers, third-party specialists, and our quality team in Hong Kong to develop class-leading solutions from concept through to finished product. This role will primarily focus on QED products.

Main Duties
- Working closely with the designers and engineers to develop new products.
- Working with colleagues and external manufacturers to ensure the project is delivered on time and against the brief.
- Preparing engineer drawings, artworks, renders, presentation and other documents to support productions and product launches.
- Maintaining and support existing products.
- Assisting the Director of Product Development with departmental activities as and when necessary.
Skills Required
- Good communication between colleagues and external suppliers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects whilst working on your own tasks.
- Ability to develop innovative solutions and think outside the box
- Excellent knowledge of SolidWorks, Keyshot and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing techniques, processes and QC.
- Chinese language skills would be an advantage.

We have a vacancy within our Q Acoustics team for an Audio Electronics Engineer. Our friendly department is based in Hampton, Southwest London and this role is ideal for someone who already has some experience in audio or consumer electronics and is looking to take their career to the next level.

- Development of audio electronics for both new products and product updates.
- Schematic capture, PCB design and evaluation from prototypes to final products.
- Supporting test labs during certifications, including pre-scans and final certification.
- Providing support and assistance to both internal and external members of the R&D team.
- Collaborating closely with our internal team and third-party partners to ensure timely delivery of projects according to agreed project briefs.
- Preparation and maintenance of engineering documentation and quality control specifications.
- Implementing & controlling post-production design changes.
- Preparation of technical content for marketing and product launch materials.
Skills Required
- Excellent understanding of analogue and digital electronics and confidence to research new technologies, implement EVMs, prototype new ideas, and implement final designs.
- Good knowledge of current audio technologies, DSPs, and streaming technologies.
- Excellent understanding of communication protocols including I2S, S/PDIF, I2C, Ethernet, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth.
- Good knowledge of EMC design requirements and certification processes
- Ability to develop schematics, layout, and debug PCBs.
- Excellent lab skills including the ability to build prototypes both on breadboards and by adapting existing PCBs, using both through hole and SMD components.
- Good knowledge of Altium Designer or other PCB design software.
