Audio Electronics Engineer
At Armour Home, we design and manufacture specialist hi-fi, home theatre and entertainment solutions for both the consumer electronics and custom install sectors around the world. Our multi award-winning brands include Q Acoustics, QED and Goldring.
Our talented Research & Development team consists of product designers, electronic engineers and acoustic engineers. We work closely with UK and Far East manufacturers, third-party specialists, and our quality team in Hong Kong to develop class-leading solutions from concept through to finished product.
We have a vacancy within our Q Acoustics team for an Audio Electronics Engineer. Our friendly department is based in Hampton, Southwest London and this role is ideal for someone who already has some experience in audio or consumer electronics and is looking to take their career to the next level.
Job Specification
Job Title: Audio Electronics Engineer
Location: Hampton, London
Benefits: 23 days holiday and personal pension after the qualification period
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Main Duties
- Development of audio electronics for both new products and product updates.
- Schematic capture, PCB design and evaluation from prototypes to final products.
- Supporting test labs during certifications, including pre-scans and final certification.
- Providing support and assistance to both internal and external members of the R&D team.
- Collaborating closely with our internal team and third-party partners to ensure timely delivery of projects according to agreed project briefs.
- Preparation and maintenance of engineering documentation and quality control specifications.
- Implementing & controlling post-production design changes.
- Preparation of technical content for marketing and product launch materials.
Skills Required
- Excellent understanding of analogue and digital electronics and confidence to research new technologies, implement EVMs, prototype new ideas, and implement final designs.
- Good knowledge of current audio technologies, DSPs, and streaming technologies.
- Excellent understanding of communication protocols including I2S, S/PDIF, I2C, Ethernet, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth.
- Good knowledge of EMC design requirements and certification processes
- Ability to develop schematics, layout, and debug PCBs.
- Excellent lab skills including the ability to build prototypes both on breadboards and by adapting existing PCBs, using both through hole and SMD components.
- Good knowledge of Altium Designer or other PCB design software.

- Ability to work alone or within a team, combining self-motivation with a strong attention to detail.
- The drive to deliver projects on-time and manage other people's work.
- Good and accurate workshop skills.
- Willingness to solve problems and embrace new technologies.
- Confident communication of design requirements to manufacturing partners and other internal departments.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity of collaborative development tools such as Confluence.
- Understanding of basic firmware and debugging. (Note: This is not a programming role!)
- Interest in acoustics and/or music.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years’ experience in audio or consumer electronics.
- Educated to a degree level in electronics or a related subject (2:1 or higher)
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to work in Southwest London.
